Temperature and Daylight Hours Connection

Today in science class, we created graphs based off of data concerning the temperature of countries throughout the months of a year, and the number of hours of daylight a country gets throughout the year. The two graphs were similar because each place with a 0° longitude or latitude, the results throughout the year were extremely similar, and stayed nearly the same. Countries with a latitude of north generally had temperatures ranging high for the months of august, july, and june. This was true for almost all graphed countries. Countries with a latitude of south normally had a general cold temperature, although at times the results were diverse, for example for Antarctica. Temperature and hours of daylight are connected by the fact that the temperature is usually higher when there is a large amount of daylight hours. Daylight hours and temperature are both produced by access to the sun, and the tilt of the earth. If the northern hemisphere is facing the sun during its year long rotation, then it is most likely that the temperature is warm and the daylight hours are long. The southern hemisphere will then have a cold temperature and the daylight hours will be short. This is the same for the opposite as well. So as you can see, temperature and daylight hours are connected, and the graphs clearly showed this as there were many similarities.
